FMRT Group Online Business Hub
Overview
The FMRT Group provides psychological and medical support to safety-sensitive employers. SciMed was engaged by them to create a system that allowed them to efficiently schedule appointments online.
Challenges
The online application developed for the FMRT Group came with many challenges to overcome, such as:
The many different types of users of the system with different needs (FMRT Administrators, FMRT Staff, Clinicians, Employers, and Applicants).
The system contains very sensitive personal data and it is very important that this data stays private and secure.
Combined with other logistical hurdles, needless to say, their needs were extremely unique.
Our approach
After extensive conversations and research were done to gain a deep understanding of what the FMRT Group wanted to achieve, we hit the ground running. This is always our first step when launching products as we know it’s critical to ensuring the success of a project. One of the core challenges we faced was determining how to navigate the many different user requirements of the system. It was important that the system be thoughtfully designed to ensure that each group could use the system in the way they needed to, without muddling the process for others. As the FMRT Group puts it:

The system contains very sensitive personal data and it is very important that this data stays private and secure. To ensure this, we implemented a number of access controls (in both the application and its servers), encrypted the data in transit and at rest, kept an audit log of authentication attempts and data modification, and regularly reviewed the code and servers for security vulnerabilities. In addition, we built a number of protocols in place for database backups and retention. All of this laddered up to building their ideal software solution, in their teams’ words:

Results
Working together with the FMRT Group we were able to successfully launch their online application. We set out to create an application where FMRT’s staff, clients, and applicants could go to work on anything they needed. The FMRT online application is the team's hub for daily operations, such as:
Allowing staff to schedule psychological and medical evaluations across multiple locations
Giving clinicians the ability to write post-evaluation reports
An interface for employers to view reports and recommendations on job applicants as well as existing staff
Allowing applicants to complete paperwork and other necessary assessments
